The Council
The Council is governed by four groups:
- The Board of Directors sets overall policy.
- The Professional Certification Committee consists of notarial scholars and authorities. It sets standards for professional backgrounds required for certification.
- The Authentication Technologies Committee consists of technologists who are familiar with the elements of public key infrastructure. This committee determines the minimum standards for acceptable digital certificates, tokens, and biometric devices.
- The Identity Procedures Committee consists of experts in the field of identity verification. It sets standards for testing of a candidate's proficiency in validating the identity of individuals, as well as re-testing cycles for maintenance of ICCAP certification.
Together the four groups create and maintain standards which, when put into practice, assure Internet users and others of the genuineness of the identities of those with whom they interact online.
